Under-Sink Reverse Osmosis in Addison
An under-sink reverse osmosis system gives your kitchen its own faucet for drinking and cooking water, with a cleaner taste and far fewer dissolved contaminants. Before any work starts, we put the system, faucet, add-ons and labor in writing so you know the full price.

Cleaner water right where you drink it
Inside the unit, your home's water pressure forces water across a semipermeable membrane. Most dissolved solids stay on the far side, including lead, nitrates and many trace contaminants, and get rinsed away. Prefilters remove sediment and chlorine first to protect that membrane, and a last carbon stage smooths out the taste. Filtered water comes from a small dedicated faucet beside your main one.
This is the right call when you care most about what goes into glasses, coffee makers, baby bottles and pots. It does not treat every tap in your home. If a chlorine smell in the shower or grit in your fixtures bothers you more, whole-house carbon filtration or iron and sediment filtration may suit you better, and some families use both.
For older plumbing especially, we often suggest water testing first. Knowing what is actually in your water lets us recommend a system for a real reason, not because RO happens to be popular.
What your installation includes
- A system sized to your household
- We match membrane output and storage to how much water you drink and cook with. A couple and a family of five need different setups.
- Dedicated drinking water faucet
- We mount a separate faucet on your sink or countertop. If there is no spare hole, we drill one, and your written price notes whether that surface is stainless, granite, quartz or something else.
- Clean plumbing connections
- We tap the cold line with its own shutoff valve and connect the drain with a proper saddle and an air gap where needed. Nothing is glued or improvised.
- Optional add-ons, priced separately
- A remineralization stage, a line to your refrigerator or ice maker, or a booster pump for low pressure. Each sits on its own line, so you pick only what you want.
- Flush, leak check and handoff
- Fresh cartridges get flushed before you drink a drop. We run water through the system, inspect each fitting for drips, then show you the shutoff and which cartridges get changed on what schedule.
Signs an under-sink RO system makes sense
You buy bottled water every week
If your family carries cases home because the tap tastes off, an RO faucet usually ends that routine.
Your test shows lead or high dissolved solids
Lead usually comes from older fixtures and solder inside the house, not from the city supply. RO ranks among the best tools for cutting lead right at the kitchen tap.
Coffee and ice taste like the pool
Disinfectant flavor stands out most in hot drinks and ice cubes. The carbon stages in an RO system clear it up.
The fridge filter is not enough
Refrigerator cartridges mostly improve taste. If you want deeper reduction, RO can supply your ice maker and water dispenser as well.
You are preparing for a new baby
Many parents want a dependable source for formula and bottles. RO gives you one without lifting jugs.
How the job runs
- 1
Start with a call
Let us know what you dislike about your tap water and describe the space under your sink. We will ask about your faucet, your countertop and whether a disposal or other equipment is already crowding the cabinet.
- 2
A look and, if needed, a test
We check the cabinet, your water pressure and the cold line. If your water has never been tested, we talk honestly about whether a test is worth doing first.
- 3
Everything in writing
You receive the system model, faucet, any drilling, add-ons and labor itemized on paper. If something changes, we explain why and update the written quote before doing that work.
- 4
The day we install
Plan on us being in your kitchen for part of a morning or afternoon. A drop cloth goes down under the cabinet first. Then we shut off the cold supply, hang the unit on the cabinet wall, run each line, and flush and pressure-test the system before you use it.
- 5
Cleanup and handoff
We haul away packaging, wipe up drilling dust and leave the cabinet tidy. You get a note listing which filters to replace and roughly when.

Why RO prices vary
The same goal can lead to quite different prices in two kitchens. Here is why, and each reason gets its own line on your written quote. Nothing goes on the bill unless you approved it.
- Storage tank or tankless
- Standard systems keep filtered water in a small tank. Tankless models pour a glass faster and take less cabinet room, but they cost more at the start.
- Your counter and the faucet hole
- An existing sprayer hole makes it easy. Drilling stone or quartz needs more time and special bits, so it is priced separately.
- Extras you pick
- Remineralization, a line to the refrigerator or a booster pump each bring added parts and labor. A pump is usually needed only when household pressure is low.
- The current state of your sink cabinet
- A tight cabinet, a corroded shutoff or a tricky drain can mean more work. We mention these during the visit rather than on install day.
- Filter replacement over time
- Prefilters typically get changed every six to twelve months, and the membrane less often. We list the parts and intervals in advance so later costs are expected.
Under-sink reverse osmosis questions
Something not covered here? (972) 471-9861
Does an RO system use a lot of extra water?
Some water always goes down the drain because the membrane has to be rinsed. Newer designs are much more efficient than older ones, and some send under a gallon to the drain per gallon you drink. We will tell you the ratio for the exact model we suggest.
Will RO water taste flat?
Because the membrane removes minerals along with everything else, the water tastes very clean, and some people call it flat. If you mind that, an optional cartridge after the membrane adds a little calcium and magnesium back, and many families prefer it. It appears as a separate line on your quote.
Is there room under a sink with a disposal?
In most cases, yes. Most systems mount on the cabinet's side wall, and tankless units are even thinner. We measure the cabinet before pricing so you know where the system will sit.
Will you drill a granite or quartz counter?
Yes. We drill slowly with stone bits and water to avoid chips. If you would prefer no drilling, an existing sprayer or soap dispenser hole often does the job.
What keeps the system running well?
Change the prefilters and postfilter on time, and replace the membrane when flow slows or the taste shifts. If you would rather not handle it, our filter replacement and maintenance service can.
Is a whole-house filter still needed?
Not in every case. RO treats only the faucet connected to it. If shower chlorine smell or sediment in appliances bothers you, we might suggest whole-house carbon filtration as well, and we will write out why.
